2020 Program - Monday, September 7 thru Thursday, September 10
About the Altruism Institute
A once in a lifetime experience for park & recreation professionals built upon a     foundation of social and fiscal responsibility - being smart and courageous in how we work and how we act. This year's theme...Ethics.

What past participants had to say...

"Thank you for the opportunity to breathe. I was able to breathe here - to stop, and to pause. I was also able
to rise above and now I have a sense of confidence from all the stories and sharing of experiences this week.
It was great to take comfort in the group, and not feel so alone."
                                                                                                                                            - Paula McDevitt, City of Bloomington (IN)

"The Institute reminded me that I can and should evoke change in my community and that I still have the
       energy to do that."
- Roderick Simmons, City of Asheville (NC)

"I’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s great to slow down and pay attention. You are going to find
       solutions if you slow down."
                                                                                                                                           - Angela Means, City of Austin (TX)

Where is the 2020 Altruism Institute being held?

This year's program will be hosted at the Hotel Boulderado in the heart of downtown Boulder, Colorado. The area provides a mild climate and breathtaking views of the flatirons of the Rocky Mountains. Boulder is an outdoor paradise with year round outdoor recreation activities and a reputation reflective of healthy lifestyles, environmental sustainability, and a true appreciation for recreation and public lands.

This intensive 4 day program will challenge 30 participating park and recreation executives and policy makers to think differently about important social and fiscal issues as they relate to and impact public parks and recreation.

The Altruism Institute was developed to remind us that we carry the ultimate responsibility for the decisions we make and their impacts on the welfare of others.

Institute speakers and facilitators will provide provocative insights about how we can begin to think strategically, smarter, courageously and ethically in response to today's challenges and important issues.

This life and career altering experience includes all sessions (1.5 CEUs), meals, recreational activities, and a Colorado gear package that includes a daypack, water bottle and other goodies that reflect the special place in which you will be.

As the saying most definitely will not want to miss this!
